How I Teach

At the heart of every lesson is one simple idea: people learn languages by using them. Speaking is therefore the primary focus of my teaching and forms the starting point for everything else that happens during a lesson.

​Students are encouraged to communicate as naturally as possible, allowing missing vocabulary, language patterns and communication challenges to emerge naturally. Together, we identify these gaps and build the language needed through targeted teaching, authentic materials and practical communication activities.

​

As a near fluent German speaker, I am also able to understand many of the challenges faced by German learners of English, providing clear explanations, real-time translation when needed and targeted feedback throughout the learning process.

Every lesson is followed by personalised lesson notes, including the materials used, key vocabulary, language corrections and suggestions for continued learning between lessons.
